Well here is the debate what do you prefer when it comes to art in your town. Do you enjoy going to a place or an event that is displaying the artwork of one or a few artist. Or do you prefer to see random acts of art usually sculptures spread out through out your town. When it comes to art is it better suited to a place or an event.
When it comes to people who have an appreciation for art more than likely you will have a place in your heart for both museum art and public art. Both of them obviously have there advantages. Museum or gallery art usually appeals to the person that is looking for an event to attend or looking to spend some time see the works of a favorite artist perhaps that is having a show. Where as public art, sculptures are finding their own little niche in city streets all over the country. With a growing number of cities turning to public art displays to spruce up other wise boring new parking lots or construction sites and parks.
I have noticed a significant rise in the amount of public sculptures being used in public places. Seems like more developers are getting the permission of the cities they are building in to spice up their sites with some public art sculptures added into their designs. Especially in smaller suburb towns outside of bigger cities. I suppose it’s a way for the town to personalize itself to make it a more unique place to visit.
Well what do you think about public displays of art vs the art being in a museum or art gallery? Have you noticed more public sculptures going up in unexpected places around the town you live in or surrounding towns? Please by all means share your opinions here with a few comments after you watch the video about the town of Omaha’s public art project to add a little spice to their town.
