The Japanese word “Origami” means folding papers into shapes to make objects that are decorative. This is basically what you do after you learn how to make origami flowers. I had been bed-ridden for the last six months and feeling really stressed out and depressed, then I happened to stumble upon an ad for making origami flowers and I tried it.
My stress level decreased dramatically and it became a very relaxing pass time of mine. It also gave me emotions of joy and calmness when I looked at the wonderful origami flower I created. Therefore, my depression began plummeting substantially.
There are only a few key items that are needed to make an origami flower. The special colors of the origami paper that you need to make your origami flower can be purchased at any local hobby, or arts and craft store. You can use regular newspaper but it is usually too thick for the folding process, however the specialized origami paper is thin enough and cut to the right size and shape. All you need to construct these origami flowers is a pencil, a ruler, and a pair of scissors.
The rose is one of the easiest patterns of all the origami flowers. One sheet of origami paper is needed for the leaves and three pieces are needed for the flower. The second red piece is about three quarters the length of the first, and the third is about three quarters the length of the second one. The green one (the fourth square) will be have the same measurements as the largest red piece. Origami square base is the pattern that will be used to fold all three of the red pieces.
This is a simple process to learn.
* Diagonally, fold one square, then fold it on the East-west line and the North-South line. The side of the origami paper that is colored should be facing upwards. The diagonals should be folded downwards(as the valley goes), and the East-West and North-South lines upward (as the mountains go). Repeat this process on the other 2 red pieces.
* Fold and unfold the right corner of the base to the imaginary line in the middle. Fold and unfold the edge onto the crease mark you just made. Then fold the right side to the left side, after that repeat this same procedure on the reverse side. The two remaining pieces of red origami paper use the same steps.
* You now place all the different rose pedal form inside each other to create your three dimensional origami flower. Shape some leaves out of the green paper as you wish. Be creative! And finally, put all the red pedals underneath the green leaves.
Origami flower art is an inexpensive hobby that can be very rewarding. Once you get the right directions, its not hard to learn or create a paper origami.
